2024 Estate Viognier Reserve
This wine reflects the classic styles we see in the Northern Rhône Valley, particularly in and around Condrieu and Château-Grillet.
Unlike many Viogniers crafted in Virginia, which can be cloyingly floral, this wine has a beautiful nose with notes of lychee, honey, and sweet orange blossom. It is marked by a characteristic beautiful light gold color. The palate has a lovely texture and is not heavy, but round and sumptuous, with hints of honey, orange, pear, and yellow plum. There is an abundant mouthfeel on the finish with a touch of orange pith. This is undoubtedly the wine for true Viognier lovers. Pairing it with the right foods will amplify the beautiful fruit notes and the luxurious richness of the honey. The wine is a real showstopper when paired with lightly spicy dishes. Chicken Tagine with apricots and almonds heighten the fruit flavors and creaminess of this Viognier. Quail, pork chop with peach sauce, roast turkey are good choices. Sheep’s milk cheeses are an excellent match. For the vegetarian – leeks, fennel, cauliflower, butternut squash. Serve the wine just slightly chilled at 56°-58°. Enjoy now through 2027.
