2024 Estate Sycolin Creek
This wine is a beautiful example of white blends made in the Rhone Valley. The wine is a classic combination of Viognier blended with Roussanne, Marsanne, and splash of Grenache Blanc. Looking at this wine we see a lovely light straw color with a platinum halo. The nose is full of ripe tropical fruit, a dash of lemon curd and that wool accent we often see in chenin blanc. The lemon curd carries through on the palate followed by the tropical fruit and a touch of apricot. There is a very pleasant richness we experience with the Roussanne. The lemon curd extends through the finish and you experience a unique satisfaction like the feeling you get with a good hug.
The luxuriance of combination of the Viognier silkiness from the Roussanne, and the beeswax contributed by the Marsanne make this wine a stunning example of what we expect from Rhone white blends. Spicy food is a natural pairing – Thai, Indian, even Mexican. Not a spice food eater the wine will come alive with a wide variety of foods including, richer poultry and fish dishes that feature roasted fruit or fruit-based sauces. Sushi is a real win and vegetarian dishes of all kinds. Drink now through 2028!
