2024 Estate Petit Manseng
This 2024 Estate Petit Manseng is a superb example of this grape and how it translates into wine. The wine has the slightest touch of sweetness, not even really off dry (see definitions). The stainless-steel fermentation and ageing allow the freshness of the vineyard to shine through. In the glass, the wine has a light translucent color with a light straw halo. The nose is rich and full with traces of pineapple, tangerine and a hint of honeysuckle. With the first sip we experience a zesty acidity which quickly transitions on the mid palate to a smooth almost creamy texture - a trace of lime curd and ambrosia. The finish is lovely with pineapple and marshmallow. The wine lingers on the palate and begs you to take the next sip. The wine is expressive and full when slightly chilled but a little colder and wine is a bit livelier, 48° – 52° is perfect. Drink this wine as you sit on the deck and celebrate spring. It will pair beautifully with some strong cheese like Stilton. Having dinner? Pair the wine with Asian cuisine with soy. Thai soups, fish soups, pasta, seafood - heavier white fish, like halibut. Meat lovers serve with pork. Vegetarians grill some vegetables with a hoisin glaze and enjoy. The wine is stunning now and can easily be enjoyed through 2027
