2023 Estate Rose
Historically all of our rosé has had an almost cult like following. All of us are excited to see the wine and eager to share it with our guests. The 2023 has a beautiful color much like the 2022. The harvest dates were staggered to capture acid in early picks and flavor concentration in later picks. The total blend is made up of 80% whole-cluster, direct to press fractions and 20% saignee fractions giving the wine a lovely deep color with a beautiful nose that is rich and juicy.
The nose of the I wine is a mélange of berry, strawberry, cherry, and a touch of raspberry. The palate we find deep flavors of red cherry, a touch of raspberry, and a dash of white pepper. It is a perfect marriage of merlot and cabernet franc. You see small amount of cabernet franc shine showing that touch of pepper through the finish – splendid. It is crisp and clean but there is a depth and juiciness brought using the combination of the saignee method and the use of neutral oak. While we often think of rosé as a wine to be paired with light foods like salads, this wine will pair beautifully with a wide variety of food – seafood, braised dishes, grilled meats and vegetables, and pasta. Try a grilled pork tenderloin wrapped in prosciutto!
