Merlot conducts the orchestra here, but the members which bring this composition to life are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.  They play together to create an orchestration which is incredibly melodic and pleasing.  

This is the third vintage of South Fork.  The first two were lovely wines but this wine has a elegance all its own.  The harmony produced by bringing together the merlot with the two Cabernet grapes is lovely. The Petit Verdot adds some definition to the composition and punctuates the wine with a touch of structure.  The wine has a nose of current, black raspberry and black cherry with a touch of violet and thyme. The hint of herbaceousness segues as the wine touches the palate – it brings a lovely dimension to the entire orchestral composition.   As the wine finishes there is a slight hint of spice which punctuates the complexity of this wine. South Fork pairs well with all red meat, lamb, and game. Try it with Braised lamb shoulder and charred tomatoes. Meaty pizza or Italian herb stuffed mushrooms enliven this wine. This wine is meant to be enjoyed now and while it is young and vibrant. If you chose to bottle age the wine Enjoy it through 2030
