This is our third vintage of Fieldstone which is a lovely red wine blend.  Unlike our Windswept and Hogback this is not a traditional Bordeaux style blend, but a beautiful blend driven by Cabernet Franc. The wine is sophisticated and polished and drinks beautifully without age. With Cabernet Franc playing the lead role the wine has beautiful black raspberry, plum, and blueberry on the nose. The wine bursts with liveliness on the palate where we see the fruit come to life and as the wine finishes you experience a touch of spice and black pepper.  The Cabernet Sauvignon adds beautiful structure to the wine and through your mid palate you continue to experience vibrant fruit with a touch of baking spices and black pepper on the finish – stunning. The extended time in oak contributes to a finish that lingers and adds a subtleness to the wine.   The wine is very versatile from a pairing perspective. So many of us gravitate to beef which is ideal as a complement to the wine’s lovely tannin.   Lamb, grilled pork, hamburgers on the grill all fantastic. Vegetarians have so many options - rich mushroom risotto, grilled vegetables, awesome.  Cheese lovers pair this wine with medium sharp Cheddar, Edam, Gloucester, Muenster, or aged Provolone.  This wine should be enjoyed while young where we experience the primary characteristics driven by the fruit from the vineyard.  If you are inclined to age the wine enjoy it through 2028!
