2021 Estate Sycolin Creek
This bottling of Sycolin Creek is our second foray into a Rhone Style White Blend. The wines are typically a blend of a variety of Rhone Valley varietals led by Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne. They can often include Ugni Blanc, Clairette, Bourboulenc, and Picpoul. This wine is light straw in color and is a stunning blend of Roussanne, Marsanne, and Grenache Blanc. Like many Rhone White Blends, this wine is rich and fruity, showing some stone fruit and citrus flavors, with a touch of white pepper, a commonly identified descriptor when Grenache Blanc is involved. Herbal notes can be expressed in the Roussanne-driven wine, with a rich, silky texture classically part of the varietals profile. The Marsanne brings out a touch of honeysuckle, especially as the wine ages.
This is a foodies wine and will be an awesome partner with richer poultry and fish dishes that feature roasted fruit or fruit-based sauces. It also pairs with sushi, poultry, and vegetarian fare – especially grilled root vegetables. Drink now through 2024
