2018 Wild Boar Petit Manseng
Petit Manseng is a white variation of the black Manseng grape, and its name is derived from its small berries. It originated in the Jurancon in SW France at the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains. From a viticulural standpoint, this grape is surprisingly resistant to fungal pressures, and upon ripening, it retains a lot of acid at high levels of sugar. Both of these characteristics make the grape tremendous for Virginia, which faces considerable disease pressure from humidity and rain. This wine is true to the grape and is incredibly aromatic with vibrant acidity and a medium-body. The fruit was sourced entirely from a single vineyard site outside Charlottesville, VA.
