2016 Wild Boar Viognier
This is a particularly special release from our library, as this is the very first Wild Boar Viognier ever produced. At Stone Tower, we love this grape, especially the Estate version produced from our tiny 2.8 acre parcel originally planted in 2009. Unfortunately, we only get approximately 140 cases of our Estate Viognier annually. Thus, our Wild Boar bottling gives us an opportunity to further showcase this grape's amazing potential in Virginia and supplement our very limited estate examples. This fruit is sourced entirely from a high quality single vineyard site just outside Charlottesville, Virginia. This wine is bone dry and exudes all the classic aromas of great Viognier: peaches, honeysuckle, orange blossom, and citrus. It's expansive on the palate yet has a refined acidity, leading to a long, balanced finish. Tasting this wine alongside our 2016 Estate Viognier (also available!) is an amazing opportunity get pick-up the terroir differenced between our Estate bottling and this example from a different vineyard site.
