Pure expression of Merlot and Cabernet Franc fruit, the bouquet offers a blend of dried blueberries, currant, lilac and ansie underlain with a hint of forest floor and gaminess that gives the impression of the wine being a bit closed at present. Very layered mouthfeel with flavors of dark pitted fruit, dry cocoa, plum baking spices gives mid palate nice weight and depth felt in the lazy rich finish once the wines is gone.
Malbec lovers rejoice! Always one of our most popular, we are thrilled to release our 2016 Wild Boar Malbec. A noble grape of Bordeaux, this varietal gained popularity in Argentina, known for its jammy characteristics. Aged in neutral French Oak barrels, a full body of cinnamon and vanilla is complemented by blackberry cobbler and rhubarb pie. Ever changing in the glass, allow this wine to open up to display its elegance and many layers. Incredibly drinkable on its own, this wine is also the perfect accompaniment to our Wild Boar pizza.
Don’t let the movie Sideways fool you, Merlot is a force to be reckoned with! With a natural vigor in the vines and a resilience in the market, Merlot is one of the most popular and recognizable varietals in the world. With ripe red fruit flavors on the nose and a back palate of dark chocolate, our 2016 vintage of Wild Boar Merlot is sure to be a people pleaser. French Oak aging is evident in the bouquet of baking spices that leap out of the glass and a finish that lingers long after the last drop. 2017 was a wonderful second vintage for our Estate Sauvignon Blanc. Similar to its Bordeaux counterparts, our Estate Sauvignon Blanc has a small percentage of Semillion from the estate blended in to round out the palate. Spending 7 months in both neutral and new French Oak Barrels, the perfect wine for summer as blooming flowers and lemon zest greet you on the nose.
Our 2017 vintage of Wild Boar Rosé is a candy lovers dream with notes of strawberry jolly rancher and cherry starburst on the nose. With similar nuances to the Rosé’s of Provence, earthy undertones of truffle and granite balance out the palate. Aged in our large upright stainless tanks our newest vintage of Rosé is sourced entirely from Virginia fruit, 100% Malbec. A wonderful pairing for a myriad of dishes, this wine is a holiday go to from Easter to Thanksgiving! Never one to stay on our shelves long, be sure to get it while it lasts!
The Rosé Cuvée is a blend of traditional Champagne varietals Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay. With a vibrant bouquet of fresh strawberries and pomegranates, the rosé serves as a wonderful aperitif to any meal. Notes of cherry blossom on the palate are complimented with the rich, rising dough components often associated with méthode champenoise. Wonderful with fried oysters and a spicy rémoulade, butternut squash ravioli with brown butter sage, and creamy panna cotta.
Both floral and savory in character, the bouquet is filled with an abundance of ripe black fruit, hints of sage, licorice and dried rose petals. Elevage in 80% new French Oak lends itself to a rich palate and notes of dark chocolate and cherry pipe tobacco. A wonderful third vintage for our Estate reds; we invite you to join in on their story as they continue to evolve for years to come!
